ABILENE – Abilene Christian jumps into the road portion of the Western Athletic Conference women's tennis season this weekend with matches at Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin.

The Wildcats visit Sam Houston State in Huntsville at 1 p.m. on Friday and SFA in Nacogdoches at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

ACU stands at 6-10 overall and 0-2 in the WAC after losing a pair of hard-fought battles last weekend.

Olivia Sears leads ACU with eight singles wins, including a 7-5 mark on the third line.Â
Eva Arranz and
Maria Cascos come in unbeaten in WAC singles play. Cascos and Maryjoe Crislogo have five doubles wins on the season and a 1-1 mark in the conference.

ACU is 9-5 against SHSU but the Bearkats have won the last four matches in the series. The Bearkats come in at 4-6 overall and 1-0 in the league after a 6-1 win over SFA on Sunday.

The Cats and SFA have played to 4-3 decisions in each of the last three seasons with the Ladyjacks winning last season to end a six-match slide in the series.

SFA is 8-7 this season and 0-1 in the WAC. Ksenia Mamontova is the reigning WAC Women's Singles Player of the Week.
