Rono Highlights First Day of Kittley

ABILENE – Irene Rono highlighted the first day of Abilene Christian's Wes Kittley Invitational on Friday, winning the women's 1500 meters.
Rono won the event in 4:38.54 with teammate Bella Evans in sixth at 4:51.44. Grace White was eighth at 4:53.04, followed by Tessa Holderman 10th at 4:49.79, Prudence Kinyeng at 5:00.31, Katelyn Coldicott at 5:13.21 and Kate Hansen at 5:13.97.
Peyton Bornstein made her ACU debut in second place in the 5000 meters at 17:58.94.
Zoe Burleson placed fourth in the discus at 167 feet, 4 inches and Kailey Roskop took sixth at 138-6.
For the men, Athan Huelskamp placed fifth at 172-10, Colt Cooper was sixth at 172-4, Nathanial Collier took ninth at 168-2 and Tyler Richardson was 10th at 164-4.
Neal Helgerson was eighth in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:02.57. Keaton Raney was 15th at 4:09.54 and JP Trook placed 19th at 4:10.71.
Kevin Castruita placed seventh in the 5000 meters at 15:09.45, followed by Gabriel Trevino at 16:00.19, O'Brien Verdin at 16:10.12 and Levi Chambers at 16:22.48.
The meet concludes on Saturday. Field events begin at 10:30 a.m. with running events launching at 2 p.m.
