ABILENE – Abilene Christian commences its women's tennis WAC schedule this weekend with UT-Arlington visiting at 2 p.m. on Friday and UT-Rio Grande Valley coming in for an 11 a.m. match on Sunday.
The Wildcats have a 6-8 overall record, led in singles by freshman
Olivia Sears' 8-5 mark. Sears is 7-4 in third-line singles.
Maryjoe Crisologo has fashioned six wins, getting three each at Nos. 1 and 2 singles.
Eva Arranz is 5-2 overall in singles and Marias Cascos is 5-5.
Arranz and
Andrea Guerrero have been the most successful doubles team, putting together a 4-4 record. Sears and
Masha Vrsalovic have finished 11 matches at NO. 1 doubles.
UT-Arlington is 8-2 this season after edging Drake 4-3 on Wednesday. Liz Chileno is 7-1 at first-line singles and Francisca Vergara has a 7-1 mark in two lower singles slots for the Mavericks. UTA is 15-8 in dual doubles this season and 39-11 in singles.
ACU and UTRGV are 2-2 in the rivalry with the Vaqueros getting a narrow 4-3 win last season. They beat St. Mary's last weekend to improve to 5-5 in duals this spring.
Isabelle Bahr leads the Vaqueros this spring with five singles wins, largely and No. 3. Bahr and Marjorie Souza have a 6-1 mark in doubles, playing at both first and second lines.
