
Men's Tennis Set for Busy Weekend

ABILENE – Abilene Christian hosts back-to-back men's tennis matches this weekend with Trinity visiting on Friday at 4 p.m. followed by Tyler Junior College at 11 a.m. on Saturday before heading to Texas Tech for a 3 p.m. match on Sunday.
The Wildcats are 4-2 on the season after going 2-1 on their trip to Colorado Springs last month despite some nagging injuries. Only three Cats have played in all six matches.
Cesar Barranquero and Savan Chhabra are both off to 4-2 starts in singles with Benjamin McDonald and Daniel Morozov logging three wins apiece. Barranquero and Dario Kmet are 3-0 as a No. 1 doubles entrant this season while Chhabra and Ethan Scribner lead the squad with four doubles wins as a tandem.
ACU is 7-2 in the series with Trinity and has won the last six meetings, including a 6-1 triumph last season. Chhabra, Barranquero and Mihaly Deli had singles wins in the match.
Trinity is 1-1 this spring after smoking Our Lady of the Lake, 8-1. Hao Nguyen, Aashish Dhanani and Robert Chang are all 2-0 in singles for the Tigers.
TJC had a strong showing at the Louisiana Winter Invitational, beating Nichols State and Texas-Rio Grande Valley. Juan Carlos Garcia, Emilio Vila, Nikola Keremedchiev and Dan Persson are all 2-0 heading into the weekend.
Texas Tech has won its last 10 meetings against the Wildcats but ACU recorded a singles win last year from Chhabra and Morozov was part of a doubles win.
The Red Raiders improved to 3-4 after a 4-0 win at Wichita State. Franco Ribero leads the team with a 6-2 singles record and Lorenzo Esquici checks in at 4-0.
