ABILENE – Abilene Christian closed out a busy weekend with a 6-1 win over Tyler Junior College on Sunday.
After falling behind in doubles, ACU bounced back quickly with wins by
Andrea Guerrero and
Eva Arranz at No. 2 and Paula Garotte and
Maryjoe Crisologo at No. 3 to claim the doubles point.
Olivia Sears and Guerrero got singles wins to put the Cats within striking distance of the team victory and Arranz completed her perfect weekend in singles with the No. 5 win to complete the assignment.
Masha Vrsalovic and Crisologo added singles wins as well.
"Good job by everyone today," said ACU Head Coach Bryan Rainwater. "Very impressive job by our doubles. Our No. 3 team had never played today and competed very well today. Everybody did their job. Eva really stepped up and won two matches this weekend at five singles where she had never played. Andy came around in singles this weekend. Big team weekend."
The Cats return to action on Saturday at UTEP.
