ABILENE – Abilene Christian's struggle with injuries reared its hideous head in a 4-2 loss to Lamar on Saturday.
Â
ACU played with an altered lineup that still nearly pulled off a victory. The Wildcats had a lead in
Andrea Guerrero's unfinished singles match and had two other singles entrants lose by narrow margins.
Â
"We knew it was going to be a tough one," said ACU Head Coach Bryan Rainwater. "It was tough to mix up the doubles teams, but no excuses. We competed well and we fought really hard at the very end in those last three singles matches. Competing-wise we did a great job. We're either winning or learning right now."
Â
Maryjoe Crisologo and
Eva Arranz picked up the singles wins for ACU at Nos. 2 and 5, respectively.
Â
The Cats wrap up the three-match weekend at home against Tyler Junior College at 1 p.m.
