LUBBOCK –
Olivia Sears continued her strong week with a singles win at Texas Tech, but Abilene Christian dropped a 6-1 decision to the Red Raiders on Sunday.
Sears, who got the match-clinching win on Saturday against Texas-San Antonio, bounced back from a 6-2 loss in the opening set to get the win, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.
The Wildcats showed pretty decently despite losses in the rest of the singles matches.
Maryjoe Crisologo battled for four wins at No. 1 and
Eva Arranz got four games at No. 6, while
Maria Cascos went down, 6-3, 6-2 on the fifth line.
"Olivia had another great match," said ACU Head Coach Bryan Rainwater. "She's been a bright spot for us over these first three matches. Maryjoe battled well, working every point at No. 1. We kind of got smacked around a little bit in singles, but we played well overall and I'm proud of the effort."
Cascos and Crisologo were down 4-3 in doubles but the match was suspended after Texas Tech clinched the doubles point.
The Wildcats return to action on Saturday, hosting Trinity at 10 a.m. and Lubbock Christian at 3 p.m.
