LIVE VIDEO) Abilene Christian women's tennis launches its spring season with an 11 a.m. match on Thursday at SMU in both teams' official spring opener.
The Wildcats are coming off of a 9-12 season in which they took down the top seed in the WAC Tournament before falling in the semis. SMU recorded a 15-9 mark last season and reached the semifinals of the American Athletic Conference.
ACU likely starts
Maryjoe Crisologo at the No. 1 slot, followed in order by
Masha Vrsalovic,
Olivia Sears,
Andrea Guerrero,
Maria Cascos and
Eva Arranz. Vrsalovic, Sears and Cascos make their spring debut as freshmen.
Crisologo had five wins at No. 1 singles last year and Guerrero was steadfast at No. 4, with an 11-5 record. Arranz saw limited action in singles a year ago.
SMU won 94 singles matches in tournaments last fall, led by Hadley Doyle with 13 wins, having won her last eight contests. Maja Makoric and Drew Morris picked up a 9-2 doubles record.
