NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Wildcats earned a 3-0 win over SFA on Saturday afternoon behind a stellar performance in the circle by
Sidney Holman-Mansell. The win gave the team their first series win over SFA since 2018.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- SFA loaded the bases in the first inning and registered their only hit of the game in the inning. The Wildcats got out of the jam and the team allowed just one baserunner the rest of the game.
- ACU loaded the bases in the third, fourth, and fifth innings but couldn't bring home a runner.
- The Wildcats finally put runs on the board in the top of the seventh when Logan Gaspar launched a ball to the left field fence driving in two runs and coming around to score herself for an inside-the-park homerun.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Holman-Mansell tossed her 19th complete game and her fifth shutout on the season. She allowed just one hit, her fewest of the year.
- Gaspar's homerun was the first of her career and her fifth extra-base hit of the season.
- Mercedes Eichelberger extended her on-base streak to 11 games with a drawn walk in the third inning.
- The Wildcats scored seven runs over the three-game series, all runs were driven in via homerun.
ON DECK:
- ACU will be back in action on Wednesday, May 11 in Huntsville, Texas for the WAC Softball Tournament. The Wildcats will be either the three- or four-seed in the tournament and will have a one round bye.
