NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Behind a complete game shutout from
Sidney Holman-Mansell, the Wildcats earned a win in game one before dropping game two for the afternoon split.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1
- It was a pitcher's duel early with both teams struggling to find base runners. Kassidy Wilbur left the game for SFA in the second inning after taking a ball off her leg.
- With just three hits as a team through five innings, Calie Burris led off the sixth with a double and Riley White followed with a homerun to put the first runs on the board.
- Holman-Mansell surrendered just three hits for the game a shut the Ladyjacks down to earn the win.
Game 2
- SFA got out to a quick start in game two, plating two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
- The Ladyjacks took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third on a solo homerun.
- A two-run shot from Burris in the top of the fourth got the Wildcats on the board and cut the SFA lead to one.
- SFA tacked on three runs in the fifth and another run in the sixth to earn the 7-2 win.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- White's homerun was her third of the season with all three coming in road contests.
- Burris' double in game one tied her with Peyton Hedrick for the most doubles in a season in Wildcat's DI history with 13.
- Mercedes Eichelberger extended her reached base streak to 10 games.
- Holman-Mansell tossed her fourth shutout of the season and her 18th complete game.
ON DECK:
- The Wildcats and Ladyjacks will play the rubber game tomorrow at 12 p.m.
