ABILENE, Texas –Tanner Tweedt led the way with five runs batted in but the comeback fell short in the early morning at Crutcher Scott Field, as the Wildcats dropped Game 1 of the Senior Weekend series against Lamar.
How It Happened
- After a three hour lightning delay, Lamar was able to strike first on the second pitch of the game with a solo Homerun from Kevin Bermudez. The solo shot was Bermudez's fifth of the year.
- The Cardinals were able to add to their lead in the top of the second by driving in 4 runs with three doubles and a single in the inning.
- Lamar was able to keep the offense rolling in the top of the third when Kirkland Banks had a two out bases clearing triple making it 7–0 in favor of the Cardinals
- The Wildcats broke through in the bottom of the 4th after a lead off single from Mitchell Dickson and back to back walks for Grayson Tatrow and Colton Eager. Loading the bases for Tanner Tweedt who drove in Dickson with a SAC Fly to center. Miller Ladusau drove in Tatrow with a fielder's choice to cut the Cardinal lead to 8 to 2.
- ACU continued to fight back with three more runs in the bottom of the 5th highlighted by a two out two RBI single from Tweedt. ACU trailed 8-5 going into the top of the 6th.
-Lamar responded to the five unanswered from the Cats with five runs in the top of the 6th, highlighted by a three run Homerun by Josh Blankenship.
-Tweedt tried to keep hope alive in the bottom of the 9th with a two run Homerun but it wasn't enough as the Wildcats fallin game one by a final of 17 to 9.

- Tanner Tweedt had a career night with 5 RBI' s finishing the night 2 for 4 with a HR and a SAC Fly. The Homerun was Tweedt's sixth of the season.
- Bash Randle had back to back multi hit games going 2 for 3 in game one with an RBI single and a walk
- Trevor Jackson had a solid performance out of the pen, going two innings and striking out five.
On Deck
- ACU returns to Crutcher Scott Field tomorrow May 14th, 2022 at 6:05 P.M. for game two of the three game series against the Lamar Cardinals. The game was originally scheduled for 3:05 P.M. but was moved back due to the lightning delay that pushed back game 1. Game 2 will be air on ESPN+
