Wildcats welcome Cardinals to Poly Wells Field

ABILENE - The Wildcats are coming off of a tough weekend in College Station, dropping three to Texas A&M in non-conference action. As the team returns to Poly Wells Field this weekend they will welcome the Lamar Cardinals for their second series of the year. ACU swept the Cardinals in Beaumont earlier this season and will look to find the same success at home.

Last Time Out

Wildcats Storylines (17-18, 8-4 WAC)

  • ACU will dive back into conference play as they face Lamar looking for another solid weekend against the Cardinals. The Wildcats won all three games on the road including two one-run wins. 
  • Calie Burris and Mercedes Eichelberger lead the Wildcats with 35 hits each, Burris leads the team with a .385 batting average. 
  • The Wildcats lead the Southwest Division in on-base percentage at .356 and have drawn the second-most walks in the league this season. 
  • The pitching staff will look to bounce back from a tough weekend on the road. The Wildcats staff holds a 3.96 ERA, ranking sixth in the WAC. 

Scouting the Cardinals (8-22, 3-9 WAC)

  • After getting swept in each of their first two conference series, Lamar took a game from division-leading SFA before earning their first series win on the year over Tarleton.
  • Hannah Kinkade is leading the Cardinals with a .288 batting average with Kaylee Ancelot just behind her hitting .286. 
  • The Cardinals pitching staff holds a 5.05 ERA as a staff with Aaliyah Ruiz leading the way with a 3.22 ERA and 108.2 innings pitched.
