Wildcats close weekend in College Station

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Wildcats kept pace with Texas A&M on Sunday afternoon but fell in the series finale, 5-2. ACU tallied seven hits and drew seven walks, but 10 runners left on base was the difference in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Laurén Schiek earned her second start of the season and held the Aggies scoreless in the first inning.
  • A two-run homerun and an RBI groundout put Texas A&M up 3-0 in the second.
  • A walk and two singles loaded the bases for Calie Burris in the top of the second and she earned the RBI after being hit by a pitch.
  • Avery Miloch followed Burris with a sac fly to drive in another run to cut the A&M lead to 3-2.
  • The Aggies would tack on two insurance runs in the bottom of the fourth, giving them the 5-2 lead.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • Rose Gonzales drew two walks on the afternoon bringing her to four drawn walks in the series.
  • Paige Harris went 2-2 in two pinch hit appearances on the weekend.
  • Miranda Lista was the only Wildcat to register a hit in each of three games this weekend.

ON DECK:
  • The Wildcats will be back in Abilene next weekend when they get back to WAC play against Lamar. The teams will play a single game on Friday night and a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. Saturday's games will be streamed on ESPN+.
