Wildcats travel to Honolulu for Hawaii Invitational

ABILENE - After going 3-2 at the Tracy Beard Classic, the Wildcats had a quick turnaround to get on a plane and make their way To Hawaii. The team spent all day Tuesday making their way to the island and will be in action on Thursday afternoon, local time. The Wildcats are coming off an impressive weekend where they won their first three games before dropping close games to North Texas and Nevada. The team will look to keep building their momentum as they compete this weekend.

Last Time Out

Wildcats Storylines

  • Riley White continues to impress in her sophomore campaign as she picked up two wins in the circle last weekend. She picked up a career-high seven strikeouts in a complete game win over Nevada while also stepping up at the plate when needed. 
  • Despite picking up two losses last weekend, Sidney Holman-Mansell has been a steady force in the circle as well. She has just a 2.20 ERA on the season with an impressive 32 K's through six appearances. 
  • Avery Miloch came up big in the second weekend of action with a walk-off homerun against Nevada before driving in all four runs in a 4-0 win over Colorado State.
  • Calie Burris is leading the team with a .360 batting average while Matti Reiling leads the team with 10 hits on the year. 

Scouting the Fighting Hawks

  • North Dakota is 4-6 on the season with wins over Bellarmine, Maryland Eastern Shore, Murray State, and Toledo. 
  • Madi Moore leads the team with a .407 batting average with Alexus Campos just behind her hitting .371 on the year. 
  • The pitching staff as a whole has a 2.97 ERA on the year with Jannay Jones leading the way with a 2.40 ERA. 

Scouting the Grizzlies

  • Montana is 5-5 on the season. The team earned opening weekend wins over Saint Mary's, Santa Clara, and San Jose State and were also in Melissa, Texas last weekend where they earned wins over Nevada and Colorado State.
  • Five players for the Grizzlies are hitting above .300 on the season with Presley Jantzi leading the team with a .438 average through 10 games. Cami Seller is also above .400 hitting .424 on the season.
  • Dana Butterfield is leading the team with a 2.66 ERA, but Allie Brock has thrown the most innings with 33.0 on the year and a 3.61 ERA. 

Scouting the Rainbow Wahine

  • Hawaii is 1-4 on the season coming into the weekend with their lone win coming over CSU Bakersfield. The team also earned a doubleheader sweep in an exhibition with DII Chaminade. 
  • Despite the 1-4 record, the Rainbow Wahine have hit .306 as a team on the season with their opponents hitting just .283. Maya Nakamura leads the team with a .444 batting average.
  • Brianna Lopez leads the team with a 4.67 ERA with 15.0 innings pitched and 11 total strikeouts.
