MELISSA, Texas – ACU played another close game down the stretch, but fell in their final game of the weekend 2-1 to Nevada. Laurén Scheik got the start and went two innings with
Sidney Holman-Mansell in the circle for the final four.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Nevada nearly scored in the bottom of the first inning, but a phenomenal throw from Miranda Davila got the runner out at home to end the inning.
- With runners on second and third, a wild pitch from Schiek allowed the Nevada runner to score from third to take a 1-0 lead.
- Riley White drew a walk in a pinch-hit appearance, Logan Gaspar reentered to run for White and stole second to get into scoring position. Shaylee Alani singled to bring home Gaspar and tie the game 1-1 in the top of the sixth.
- Nevada retook the lead after a missed attempt at a diving catch in right center allowed the ball to get away from the ACU defense and the batter scored on the play.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Sydney Kaiser got her first multi-hit game of the year, tallying two of the three Wildcat hits.
- Logan Gaspar stole second in the sixth inning to notch her first career stolen base.
