ABILENE – The ACU soccer team closes out the 2022 season this week with a pair of matchups in WAC play. The games are moved up a day on the final week of the regular season, so the Wildcats (4-8-4, 0-6-3 WAC) head down to Edinburg, Texas to take on UTRGV on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 6:30 p.m. before returning to Elmer Gray Stadium for the season finale against SFA on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 1 p.m. Saturday's game is presented by Bontke Brothers Construction. Both games this weekend will air on ESPN+.

  • LEADING THE WAY – Sophomore Chayse Thorn scored a pair of goals against Grand Canyon, and leads the way with six scores this season. Thorn leads the team with 13 points and ranks second with 30 shot attempts. She has played a team-high 18 shots on frame.
  • RECORD BOOKS – Senior Natalie Jones has 50 career points, which is tied for fourth in ACU history. Fellow senior Caylen Wright sits in fifth with 19 career goals, while Jones is right beh9ind in sixth with 18. Jones is tied for fifth all-time with 14 assists and is now sixth all-time with 171 career shot attempts.
  • THE COACH – Head coach Casey Wilson, in his 16th season, is approaching 170 wins at ACU. The head man has 167 victories in his time as the only coach in program history.

SCOUTING UTRGV (2-11-3, 0-6-3 WAC)

  • The Vaqueros have dropped three in a row, including a road match at SFA on Sunday, 2-0.
  • UTRGV has only scored 11 goals this season, and leading the way is Amy Hislop and Ana Recarte-Pacheco with three apiece.
  • Emma Loov leads the keepers with 11 starts and over 1,100 minutes played with 52 saves.

SCOUTING SFA (5-10-1, 4-5-0 WAC)

  • The Ladyjacks are coming off a home win on Senior Day against UTRGV, 2-0, and will host Tarleton on Thursday before coming to ACU on Saturday.
  • Of SFA's 17 goals scored this season, Jayme Bailey and Lily Hargrove lead the charge with three scores apiece.
  • Lydia Sattler leads the way in net with 12 starts and 67 saves.
