LAS CRUCES, N.M. — After a lopsided loss on Thursday night, the Wildcats came out with a short memory on Saturday evening, competing to the final buzzer. Abilene Christian kept pace with the Aggies of New Mexico State throughout the game, but a 41-point effort from Teddy Allen was too much for ACU to overcome. Coryon Mason put up 19 on the night, Mahki Morris chipped in 11 as the Wildcats fell 63-77.

Key Plays

The Aggies jumped out to a 10-2 lead behind back-to-back threes to open the game.
The Wildcats would answer with a 10-0 run of their own behind threes from Mahki Morris and Coryon Mason.
A three from Teddy Allen pushed the Aggies lead back to five with just under eight minutes to play in the first half.
Morris cut the Aggie lead to one on a fastbreak layup with three minutes left in the first half.
NMSU hit a three and followed it with a three-point play to open the second half and push their lead to double digits.
Damien Daniels found Yuot Gai in the lane for dunk that cut the lead to six with 15 minutes to play.
Reggie Miller hit a running jumper in the paint with just under nine to play to get the Wildcats within two possessions.
Immanuel Allen hit a three to get the Wildcats within three with seven minutes to play.
Down 11 with a minutes and a half to play, Mason got the steal, the layup, and drew the foul to get the Wildcats back within eight.
The Aggies hit six free throws down the stretch to seal the win.

Mason's 19 points gave him his third game with double digit scoring over the team's last four.
The Wildcats shot just 21 percent from three including going just 2-15 from deep in the second half.
The Wildcats and Aggies each had 13 turnovers in the game making this the first game this season that ACU did not have a positive turnover margin.
After getting severely outrebounded in the last three contests, the Wildcats kept up on the boards grabbing 24 to the Aggies 26. ACU had the 8-7 advantage on the offensive boards.
Teddy Allen went for 41 on 13-20 shooting and 6-11 from deep.
ACU made the most of their opportunities at the free throw line going 24-27 at the charity stripe.

The Wildcats will return to Abilene and the Teague Center next week as they host two tough opponents in Seattle and California Baptist. ACU will take on the Redbirds of Seattle Thursday night at 7 p.m. and will host the Lancers of CBU Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
