TUCSON, Ariz. – Collegiate Baseball released its preseason picks for the Western Athletic Conference, and ACU was picked to win the Southwest Division. Individually, seven players were named to the Players to Watch section, as ACU embarks on a new chapter as first-year members of the WAC.
This comes after ACU received votes in the Top 50 preseason poll for the first time ever.
CBN picked ACU to win the new WAC Southwest Division, ahead of second-place Sam Houston, third-place UTRGV, fourth-place Lamar, fifth-place SFA, and sixth-place Tarleton. The Wildcats come to the WAC with SFA, Lamar, and Sam Houston from the Southland Conference, and they join the other two Texas schools in the new southwest division. The west division was picked in the following order: 1. Grand Canyon, 2. California Baptist, 3. Sacramento State, 4. Dixie State, 5. New Mexico State, 6. Utah Valley, 7. Seattle U.

ACU went 36-21 a year ago and 25-13 in the Southland Conference, culminating with the program's first Division I championship. Eager was named the Southland Hitter of the Year, Tatrow was named the Newcomer of the Year, and head coach
Rick McCarty was named the Clay Gould Coach of the Year. Eager and Dickson were members of the first team, while Tatrow earned second team honors. Hammit was named to the third team as well.
ACU returns 89% (1,662 of 1,903) at-bats from 2021, including seven all-conference performers. The pitching staff also returns 43 of its 57 starts from a season ago (75%) from a staff that posted a 5.58 ERA.
