ACU closes home stand with Chicago State

ABILENE – A rare six-game home stand in the middle of the soccer season wraps up this weekend as ACU gets ready to host WAC opponent Chicago State. The Wildcats (3-4-1, 1-0-1 WAC), who did not leave Abilene in the month of September, wrap up the five-week home stand on Saturday morning with an 11 a.m. kick at Elmer Gray Stadium. The game will air on the WAC Digital Network.

ACU STORYLINES

  • GREAT START TO LEAGUE PLAY: The Wildcats tied Lamar to open WAC play last Friday, 0-0, and then came from behind in the second half to top UTRGV, 3-2, in overtime. It was a lot of minutes on the pitch, but it was a four-point weekend with a win and a tie to start conference play.
  • THREE PLAYERS SCORE: Freshmen Chayse Thorn and Taylor Denn scored the first two goals for ACU against UTRGV Sunday, and senior Emily Heidman finished the come-from-behind win off with a majestic header off a beautiful ball from Alyssia Anuat. It was a big win on the home field and the first-ever WAC win for any ACU program.
  • LEADERS: The Wildcats have had six players score a goal this season, led by Natalie Jones' two. Thorn, Denn, Heidman, Natalie Wodka, and Caylen Wright have all scored as well. Lily Foster has tallied 50 saves this season in net.

SCOUTING CHICAGO STATE

  • The Cougars (0-8-1, 0-2-0 WAC) are coming off a pair of losses to open the league schedule against UTRGV and Lamar, losing 1-0 and 3-1 at home.
  • Chicago State is led by Sara Quevedo's three goals scored, while Alexa Seiler has 56 saves in net.
