Mueller, Harris lead Wildcats against UCA

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas—The Wildcats faced Central Arkansas in the first round of the Southland Conference Tournament on Wednesday afternoon, falling 3-1 to close out the season.
The Sugar Bears jumped out to the quick start winning each of the first two sets behind a powerful offensive attack. UCA hit .607 in set one and .556 in set two to take the commanding two sets to zero lead over the Wildcats. Despite a tough start to the match, the Wildcats rallied and were able to keep it close in set three. ACU had 13 kills in the set and after being tied 22-all, the team closed the set 3-1 to take the 25-23 win. Central Arkansas raced to another early lead in set four and while the Wildcats made a couple of late runs, they were unable to close it out, falling 25-18 for the set and match.
Katelyn Mueller led the way offensively for the Wildcats with 16 kills, while Mackenzie Harris contributed 16 digs. Emily Van Dyke played well for ACU down the stretch earning key points when needed and finishing with eight kills.
