
31 Wildcats heading to Austin for Texas Relays

The Wildcat women will be sending 18 competitors to the Texas State Capitol, while the men have 13 entries. Both squads also will be entered in the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays.
ACU opened its outdoor season at home last weekend for the seventh-annual Wes Kittley Invitational, an event in which 19 Wildcats posted marks that propelled them onto the NCAA top-25 performance lists.
Junior Annina Brandenburg enters this week ranked fifth nationally in the discus and 11th in the shot put following her efforts at Elmer Gray Stadium. She attained a distance of 182-6 in winning the discus championship over Texas Tech's Season Usual, and in the shot put she recorded a winning mark of 52-09.50.
Southland Conference Indoor gold medalist and sophomore Zoe Spinn also cracked the NCAA's top-10 in the high jump as she reached a first-place height of 5-09.75 to beat several competitors from Texas Tech and Tarleton.
On the men's side its 4x100-meter relay ran a seventh-ranked time of 40.12, while sprint hurdler Jamal January recorded a PR of 14.07 to win the 110H by .02 seconds over Red Raider Maliek Kendall. January's time is 15th in the NCAA, and sprints by freshman Jack Marshall in the 100 (10.50) and 200 (21.10) rank him 17th and 16th, respectively.
The 2021 Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays get underway with the collegiate decathlon and heptathlon on Thursday, March 25. Thursday's action will highlight field events, sprints and the Distance Carnival to close out the night. The distance portion of Day One will consist of the 1,500 meters, 5,000 meters, 10,000 meters, 3,000-meter steeplechase and the Jerry Thompson Mile.
Friday's schedule is led off by the second day of multis competition in the decathlon and heptathlon at Myers Stadium, followed by a slew of field events and then a sprints circuit in the afternoon and early evening. The sprints session will include the 100-meter dash, hurdles competition, 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relays in the University/College division.
Saturday's schedule begins with field competition in the discus at 10 a.m., and continues all throughout Myers Stadium during the day. The 2021 Texas Relays are scheduled to conclude with the Sanya Richards-Ross and Cleburne Price Jr. 4x400-meter relays in the evening.
