ABILENE, Texas— The Wildcats hosted Nicholls on Thursday night looking for their third-straight win. ACU got out to a slow start in the first set, falling behind by as many as six points in the set. The Wildcats trailed 21-14 before going on a 10-2 run to get to set point at 24-23, but the Colonels would hold on and earn the 26-24 first set win. ACU responded by opening the second set 4-0 while also getting their block going in the set. The team totaled four blocks in the set and Lindsey Toney led the way offensively going 5-6 with no errors.
After the second set win, the Wildcats had the momentum in their favor and had an answer for any run the Colonels tried to put together. ACU took the early 8-4 lead in set three, and Nicholls was able to come back to tie the set at 12-all. The teams traded points the rest of the way but with a 22-21 lead the Wildcats scored the final three points of the set to take a 2-1 set lead. Breanna Box had a kill followed by a solo block that helped the team get their first separation of the set at 16-13 and took the air out of the Colonels.
