Fans select Baseball's All-Decade Team

ABILENE, Texas – After a remarkable 7,373 ballots were submitted throughout the week, the Abilene Christian baseball fans chose an incredible group of Wildcats to earn a spot on the All0-Decade Team presented by Toyota of Abilene. The list of 28 nominees is trimmed down to 14 spots on the team.

Twenty-eight of the best players from the past decade (2010-19) were nominated for this prestigious group. Fans decided the top eight position players (including three position-less outfielders), designated hitter, utility player, the top two starting pitchers, and top two relief pitchers to complete a 14-man All-Decade Team.

Starting Pitchers

Aaron Lambrix, RHP, 2010-13

• Went a perfect 10-0 as a sophomore on the mound in 2010 with a 4.37 ERA
• Named First Team All-Lone Star Conference in 2010 and Second Team in 2013
• Led the team in ERA (4.10) in 2012 after coming off an injury, tossed a team-high 90.0 innings
• Wrapped his career with a 4-5 record in 2013 with a 3.67 ERA
• Helped ACU to a record 50 wins in 2010

 
Aaron Mason, LHP, 2015-16

• Posted a miniscule 2.93 ERA in 2016 as a senior, allowing just 29 earned runs while walking only 15 batters and striking out 52
• Named Honorable Mention All-Southland Conference in 2016
• Tallied a career 4.40 ERA in two seasons in Purple and White
• Struck out 78 batters, walked just 31 in his career

Brady Rodriguez, LHP, 2011-14

• Had a breakout junior season in 2013 with 29 appearances out of the bullpen and a 2.29 ERA
• Logged 215.3 innings (most out of the bullpen) in four seasons with the Wildcats
• Named First Team All-Lone Star Conference in 2013
• Struck out 41 batters and allowed just a .227 batting average during his junior year

 
Kevin Sheets, RHP, 2014-15

• Sheets was great in 2014 with a 3.80 ERA in 47.1 innings out of the bullpen, but was exceptional in 2015
• As a senior he posted a ridiculous 1.69 ERA in 37.1 IP out of the pen, and allowed a .212 opponent batting average
• Sheets allowed just 7 earned runs in 2015
• Posted a 2.89 ERA in two seasons at ACU

Luis Trevino, 2017-19

• Played from 2017-19 with a medical redshirt year in between in 2018 due to Tommy John surgery
• Led the team in hitting both years on the field (2017, 2019), with a .366 average in '17 and a ridiculous .408 average as a senior
• Missed out on the Southland's Triple Crown by just one home run in 2019, recording a .408 average with 15 HR and 63 RBI
• Ranked among the nation's top 25 players in RBI, on-base percentage (.504), slugging percentage (.743) and total bases (142)
• Threw out 13 runners on base in 2019
• 2019 Southland Conference Player of the Year & First Team all-league, 2017 Third Team All-Southland Conference
• Drafted in the 40th round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays
• Helped ACU to its best Division I win total in 2019 (26)

• Hit .310 over a four-year career at ACU, and logged 255 hits including 47 doubles, and drove in 124 runs
• Pounded 15 doubles as a senior in 2015 and recorded six triples as a freshman in 2012

• 2012 Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Year & Second Team all-league

• Played in the final Division II year for ACU in 2013, earned Honorable Mention All-Lone Star Conference
• Also played in ACU's first year as a Division I school in 2014, earning Second Team All-Southland Conference honors
• Hit .328 in two seasons at ACU, with 125 total hits including 32 extra base hits
• Drove in 65 runs as well and slugged .465, including a .507 slugging percentage as a senior
• Drafted in the 10th round of the 2014 MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers

• Played in the final Division II year for ACU in 2013, Named First Team All-Lone Star Conference
• Also played in ACU's first year as a Division I school
• Hit .346 in two seasons, including a team-high .358 average in 2013
• Drove in 59 runs in two years, including 40 as a junior
• Recorded a .931 fielding percentage at third base as well

• Launched 11 homers as a junior as well
• Named First Team All-Lone Star Conference in both 2010 and 2011

• Hit .387 in two seasons at ACU in the decade, including a .405 average during his remarkable 2010 campaign

• Backed it up with a .369 average in 33 games in 2011
