ABILENE - Abilene Christian golf senior
Bryce Dooley Wednesday was voted First Team Southland Conference All-Academic. A native of Friendswood, Texas, Dooley is on track to graduate next month with a degree in financial management.
This is Dooley's third appearance on a Academic All-Conference squad. He was a Second Team Academic All-Conference honoree following his junior (2018) and sophomore (2019) seasons, and has twice been tabbed Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches' Association of America (GCAA).
Dooley was in the midst of his best season when it was canceled due to coronavirus in mid-March, averaging 71.67 shots per round through four tournaments and 12 rounds. He carded a career low round 66 in the first round of the La Tour Intercollegiate en route to placing 14th (6-under 210), and two weeks later he shot an even par 216 in tying for seventh at the Collin Montgomerie Invitational.
Dooley began the year with a one-under 215 at the Wisconsin Badger Invitational, and went on to finish the year with six subpar holes, two eagles, and 41 birdies.
Dooley played 100 rounds at 34 career tournaments and finished par or better 31 times with 258 birdies and six eagles. His 66 this spring in Louisiana was his fifth career round in the 60s.
