ACU Cancels Game Set for October 17

ABILENE -- ACU Friday decided to cancel its home football game with West Texas A&M University that was planned for Oct. 17. If the game cannot be rescheduled, ACU will look for another opponent to fill a later date.
"We regret for our fans that we have to reschedule the game, but this was not unexpected. We knew we might have a few challenges when we decided to play this fall," said Dr. Phil Schubert, ACU president. "With some of our student-athletes testing positive for COVID-19, we know it's in everyone's best interest. This shows our testing protocols are working as they should."
The Oct. 17 match-up was scheduled to be ACU's Homecoming game, and its third of the season. More details about Homecoming will be announced early next week.
The Wildcats are slated to return to action Saturday, Oct. 24 with a neutral-site game vs. Stephen F. Austin at Globe Life Park. From there ACU will visit Mercer Halloween afternoon, host back-to-back home games on Nov. 7 and 14 vs. Angelo State and Arizona Christian, and travel to Virginia on Nov. 21.
