NEW SEASON, NEW TEAM… The 2019 version of the Wildcats will look a little different from the 2018 team, after losing seven players to graduation. ACU does bring back junior
Caroline Adair in the outfield after starting all 48 games a season ago, as well as sophomores
Briana Tijerina and
Calie Burris. Burris is back in the circle after going 5-8 with a 5.74 earned run average as a rookie. Tijerina started 31 games on the infield and recorded an .894 fielding percentage. Nine newcomers will look to provide valuable at-bats and moments in the circle in 2019, including junior transfer
Linsey Tomlinson, an outfielder from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Sophomore pitcher
Samantha Bradley transferred in from the University of Louisiana, after spending one season with the Ragin' Cajuns.
ONE FINAL GLANCE BACK… ACU finished 23-26 including a 15-12 mark in Southland play, earning its first-ever trip to the conference tournament after four years of post-season ineligibility. The Wildcats will look to build off that coming into this season after batting .250 as a unit and posting a team earned run average of 3.79 in the circle.
PRE-SEASON POLL… The 2019 Southland Conference Preseason Softball Poll was released last week, and the Wildcats were picked eighth out of 12 teams, as projected by the head coaches and sports information directors. The reigning regular-season champions of Nicholls were picked to win the league with 18 first-place votes, followed by McNeese (6).
