ABILENE – The ACU softball team will invade the Sooner State this weekend as they take part in the Courtyard Marriott Tournament that includes fourth-ranked and defending national champion Oklahoma in its own tournament. The two-day, four-game tournament also includes Missouri State.
The Wildcats enter the weekend with 4-7 record while the Sooners are 9-2 and the Bears sit at 8-6.
Last weekend, ACU hosted Baylor in a doubleheader Sunday after inclement weather canceled the Baylor Invitational. Baylor won both games of the twinbill at Wells Field by the scores of 3-0 and 13-2. The Wildcats' Donelle Johnson smashed her second home run of the season over the left field fence in the second game and scored in the bottom of the fifth after getting on base on a walk. Senior Hannah Null struck out three batters in a complete-game effort in the first game.
Quick Hitters:
Coach's Quote:
"This weekend is going to be a challenge, but as long as we approach it the right way it will help us get better," said head coach Bobby Reeves. "I think the better competition we play in the beginning of the season the better prepared we will be when we get to conference play."
