ABILENE – Freshman
Nini Memishishi improved to 5-1 in singles competition this spring following Abilene Christian's doubleheader split with Dallas Baptist and the Mustangs Friday at the SMU Tennis Complex.
Memishishi won both her matches at the No. 5 position, first defeating DBU's Adriana Carpenter, 6-2, 6-0, and later beating SMU's Nicole Petchey, 7-5, 6-4 for the Wildcats' lone point in a 4-1 loss to the Mustangs.
ACU shut out Dallas Baptist, 7-0, and will take a 2-2 record into next weekend's series of matches vs. UTEP, Northern Arizona and New Mexico State.
Memishishi's freshman classmate
Ileana Mocciola posted a 3-1 record Friday, which included a double-bagel victory at No. 6 over DBU's Anastasija Djordjevic and consecutive doubles wins at No. 3 with second-year Wildcat
Autumn Crossnoe.
Mocciola and Crossnoe won their match vs. DBU, 6-4, and doubled up the SMU duo of Petchey and Liza Buss, 6-3, in improving to 3-0 on the spring.
Crossnoe won her first singles match of the day, 6-1, 6-2, over DBU's Ira Vogelmann at No. 4, and split the first two sets vs. SMU's Sarai Monarrez Yesaki before their match was abandoned.

Sarah Eleanor Adams won the top three singles matches vs. the Patriots, but could not duplicate their success against the much-tougher Mustangs. Pothier's No. 1 match against Buss was left unfinished. Williams fell, 6-2, 6-2, to Anzhelike Shapovalova and Adams was topped, 7-6 (1), 6-2 by Karina Traxler.
