WACO – ACU puts up a tough fight against Baylor in exhibition match at Betty Lou May Soccer Field. The Wildcats held the Lady Bears off in the first half of the match, a quick two goals in the second gave Baylor a 2-0 victory.
"It was a solid effort tonight," head coach
Casey Wilson said. "We competed the entire match and created some decent chances. The coaching staff is very encouraged overall going forward."
The Wildcats and Lady Bears matched fairly evenly in the first half of the contest, Baylor held a 7-4 shot advantage, but ACU had three shots on goal to one. Goalkeeper Rachael Johnson was credited with the Wildcats lone save.
Baylor scored the evening's first goal in the 47
th minute and the final goal in the 52
nd minute. ACU had six players with one shot.
Megan Baer,
Caity Acosta,
Dylan Owens and
Samantha Vestal each looked to even things against Baylor but couldn't find the back of the net.
The Wildcats start the regular season Friday, August 18, at 7 p.m. in San Antonio against UTSA.
