COLLEGE STATION – The ACU Wildcats are back on the road Tuesday night when they take on Texas A&M in a non-conference college baseball game at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
The Aggies have won all five meetings between the teams in a series that dates back to 1976. All five games have been played in College Station, including last year's 10-4 Aggie victory.
ACU is 9-19 overall and riding a 12-game losing streak going into Tuesday night's game. The Aggies, meanwhile, are 22-11 after winning two of three games in each of their last two Southeastern Conference series (at No. 6 LSU two weeks ago and last weekend at home against No. 11 Auburn).
GAME NOTES
• ACU senior Russell Crippen leads the Wildcats in batting average (.382) and home runs (5) and is second on the team in RBI (21).
• ACU junior Luis Trevino is second on the team in batting average (.369) and home runs (3), but leads the team in RBI (28).
• Three other Wildcats are hitting better than .300 on the season: sophomore centerfielder Derek Scott (.339), junior second baseman Dalon Farkas (.314), and sophomore first baseman Koby Claiborne (.311).
• Texas A&M freshman Braden Shewmake leads the team in batting average (.348) and RBI (37) and is second on the team with three home runs.
• Freshmen Logan Foster and Joel Davis each have a team-leading four home runs.
• Freshman catcher Hunter Coleman – the nephew of Hardin-Simmons head coach Steve Coleman – was voted the SEC Freshman of the Week on Monday after hitting .455 (5 for 11) with one double, one home run, three runs and two RBI last weekend against Auburn.
