Final Results
FORT WORTH, Texas – Medal stand and top-five showings were hard to come by for Abilene Christian as the Wildcats competed against some of the region's best teams this weekend at the TCU Invitational hosted at the Lowdon Track and Field Complex.
Junior
Ryan Cleary was the men's team's highest finisher with a fourth-place time of 1:54.30 in the 800-meter run, while the women's lone top-five showing was produced by senior pole vaulter
Kenzie Walker Mascorro, who reached a fifth-place height Saturday of 12-feet, 10 inches (3.91 meters) – 10 centimeters short of her lifetime best recorded in 2015.
UT Arlington's combination of Helen Falda (13-09.75 / 4.21m) and Madison Pecot (13-3.75 / 4.06) were first and second in the vault followed by the Stephen F. Austin duo of Dakota Mayr and Kaylee Bizzell, who tied Mascorro for the third best leap of 12-10 (3.91m).
Cleary was one of 17 entrants in the 800m, and was beaten to the finish line by UTA's Craig Lautenslager (1:52.85), Commerce's Luis Osorno (1:53.02) and Baylor freshman TJ Sugg (1:54.13). This was Cleary's first outdoor 800m run since his freshman season of 2015, during which he posted a personal record of 1:52.75.
There were six personal bests recorded by Wildcat returnees at TCU during the past two days. Senior
Lee-Andrew Bloomfield clocked a 12th-place time of 49.18 in the 400m, while in the throws, ACU received five PRs from the trio of Joshua Hunter,
Ryan Simmons and
McKennon Cecil between the shot put, discus, hammer and javelin.
The Wildcats are at Elmer Gray Stadium next Friday and Saturday for the third-annual Wes Kittley Invitational. This is their first of three home meets this outdoor season, and competition will include men's and women's teams from Texas Tech, Oral Roberts, North Texas and SMU.
Friday's slate of events includes day one competitions from the heptathlon and decathlon plus the women's and men's 5K and 10K runs. Saturday schedule begins with the conclusion of the multi events at 10:15 a.m. The first field events commence at 11 a.m., and women's 3,000-meter steeplechase will go at 12:20 p.m.
