WACO – The 11th-ranked Baylor Bears men's tennis team dealt the Abilene Christian Wildcats a 4-0 loss on the outdoor courts of the Hurd Tennis Center Saturday, dropping ACU's season record to 8-7. The Bears improved to 9-2 with the shutout victory.
Baylor won the doubles point behind wins at the No. 2 and 3 positions. Juniors
Henry Adams and
Paul Michael Domanski were doubled up by No. 53-ranked team of Johannes Schretter and Will Little, 6-3, and No. 3's
Sebastian Langdon and
Brad Gleason were beat, 6-1. No. 1's
Nico Agritelley and Joshua Sheehy were down 4-3 to Juan Benitez and Constantin Frantzen when their match was abandoned.
The Bears clinched the match behind three consecutive singles wins between the No. 3, 4 and 5 positions. All victories were in straight sets. Adams led his second set at No. 5 vs. Frantzen, 4-2, when their match was called, and Sheehy was up 3-2 in the second on 13th-ranked Benitez after losing the first set, 6-3.
The Wildcats are off for the rest of the weekend, but will return to action next Friday, March 3 with a Houston-based doubleheader vs. Prairie View A&M and Rice. Match times are 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. vs. the Panthers and Owls.
