Men's Tennis to Colorado for Air Force duals
1/19/2017 11:35:00 AM | Men's Tennis
ABILENE - Abilene Christian men's tennis looks to break into the win column this weekend during its trip to Colorado Springs, where the Wildcats will play four duals in two days against teams from Colorado State-Pueblo, Metro State, Northern Colorado and the US Air Force Academy.
ACU (0-3) will play the ThunderWolves of CSU-Pueblo and Roadrunners of Metro State Friday at 9:30 and 12:30 p.m. CT, and face the Bears and Falcons Saturday at 2 and 7 p.m. The Wildcats' dual vs. Air Force will be video streamed live on goairforcefalcons.com.
ACU enjoyed a 4-0 weekend last time they played in Colorado Springs in late January of 2016. The Wildcats beat Metro State, 6-1, toppled Air Force, 5-2, and blanked Northern Colorado, 7-0, before knocking off nationally ranked UC Davis, 4-3.
Paul Michael Domanski was credited with the match-clinching point vs. the Aggies following his three-set comeback win at No. 6, but wouldn't have reached that enviable position if not for the wins posted at the top-three positions by Josh Sheehy, Nico Agritelley and Jason Proctor.
The Wildcats began their season last weekend with three tough 7-0 losses to No. 4 Texas, SMU and No. 12 Oklahoma. ACU's lone victory came at No. 1 doubles vs. the Longhorns, in which Agritelley and Sheehy held on to defeat Leo Telles and George Goldhoff, 6-4. Sheehy also came close to knocking off Texas' No. 1 singles competitor Christian Sigsgaard, who is ranked No. 6 in the ITA singles rankings. Sigsgaard won their match in three sets, 3-6, 7-6 (9-7), 1-0 (10-6).
