Final ResultsPATTERSON, La. – The ACU Wildcats finished fifth Tuesday in the rain-shortened Atchafalaya Intercollegiate golf tournament, the opening event of the spring championship season.
The tournament, which was played at The Atchafalaya at Idlewild, was to have been a 54-hole tournament with 36 holes Monday and 18 more Tuesday. However, heavy rain Monday shortened the first day to just 18 holes, and then rain and tornadoes in the area Tuesday finished off the tournament after just one round.
The Wildcats shot 6-over-par 294 in Monday's round to finish 10 shots behind tournament champion Louisiana-Monroe (284). Central Arkansas was second at even-par 288, followed by the hosts from Nicholls at 3-over-par 291, Wichita State in fourth at 5-over-par 293 and then the Wildcats.
ACU senior
Luke Carpenter – who missed the entire 2014-15 season because of a back injury – finished tied for 10th in the individual standings at even-par 72, followed by
Dillon Vaughn at 1-over-par 73 (tied for 16th),
Ryan Beatty at 2-over-par 74 (tied for 23rd),
Brandon Stites at 3-over-par 75 and
Clarke Hudgins at 4-over-par 76.
ACU freshman
Garrett Glanton, who didn't qualify for the top five in this tournament, played as an individual and shot 2-under-par 70 to finish tied for third in the individual standings.
The Wildcats will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday at the Houston Baptist Spring Invitational at The Traditions at Cypresswood Golf Club.
