DALLAS, Texas - Senior Nada Marjanovic won all four of her matches and classmate Kaysie Hermsdorf was victorious three times as the Abilene Christian women's tennis team went 1-1 during Tuesday's doubleader vs. Dallas Baptist and SMU at the indoor SMU Tennis Complex.

The Wildcats are now 3-2 on the young season, while today's duals served as the season openers for both the Patriots and Mustangs.

ACU began its day with a 5-0 win over DBU, which is a NCAA DII member of the Heartland Conference. The Wildcats swept doubles capped by a close victory at the top-line, where junior Erin Walker and sophomore transfer Andrea Crook edged Ana Marija Banic and Maria Fernandez de Camilo, 8-7 (6).

Walker again beat Banic at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-1, and winning in straight sets from the No. 2 to 4 positions were Hermsdorf, Marjanovic and sophomore Lucile Pothier. Matches at No. 5 and 6 featuring freshman Jordan Henry and junior Ansley Boarman were left unfinished.

In doubles, Boarman and sophomore Whitney Williams shut out their opposition at No. 3, while at No. 2, Marjanovic and Hermsdorf topped Amanda Richter and Madeline Coffman, 8-3.

Hermsdorf leads all Wildcat doubles competitors with an 8-3 spring record.

Hermsdorf and Marjanovic were ACU's lone singles winners against SMU in a 5-2 defeat. Hermsdorf came back from a set down to beat Vaszilisza Bulgakova at No. 2,  4-6, 6-4, 13-11, and at No. 4, Marjanovic defeated Ana Perez-Lopez, 6-4, 6-2, to improve to 6-1 on the spring.

Crook and Marjanovic defeated Macie Elliott and Mary Wright of SMU, 6-0, for their third consecutive win together, but the other two ACU doubles combinations lost by matching 6-4 scores.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday with a doubleheader in Lubbock vs. Texas-Permian Basin and Texas Tech. Match times are 11 a.m. vs. the Falcons and 4 p.m. vs. the Red Raiders.
