PEARLAND – The ACU Wildcats return to the course Monday as one of 14 teams playing in the Bayou City Collegiate Classic at Golfcrest Country Club.

The 54-hole tournament will be played Monday and Tuesday at the pare-72, 7,254-yard layout in Pearland. The teams will play 36 holes Monday, followed by 18 holes Tuesday.

Aside from ACU, the teams entered are the hosts from Houston, Rice and Sam Houston State, along with Houston Baptist, McNeese State, Lamar, Texas State, North Texas, Denver, Tulsa, Texas-San Antonio, Kansas and Southern Mississippi.

The only team of the 14 ranked in the latest Bushnell Golfweek Coaches' Poll is ACU's Southland Conference rival McNeese State, which is ranked No. 24 in the latest poll. The Cowboys have finished first and seventh in their two tournaments so far this fall.

The Wildcats have finished tied for 13th and tied for 11th in their first two tournaments of the season, both of which were played in Colorado. The Wildcats have been led by senior Dillon Vaughn, who has a 71.2 scoring average through six rounds with a low round of 69 in the final round of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational (Sept. 12-13) in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Junior transfer Ryan Beatty is averaging 74.7 shots per round with a low round of 66 in the second round of the Falcon Invitational. And freshman Garrett Glanton has a scoring average of 75.7 with a low round of 70 in the first round of the Ram Masters Invitational (Sept. 21-22) in Fort Collins, Colo.
