ABILENE
- Abilene Christian's women's soccer team looks to break its scoreless and winless streaks this weekend against Sooner Athletic Conference schools Wayland Baptist and Texas Wesleyan.

Live stats will be offered for each contest.

The Wildcats (0-2) play host to the Pioneers (0-0-1) Friday at 5 p.m. at the Hardin-Simmons Soccer Complex and head to Fort Worth and Martin Field Sunday for a 1 p.m. match against the Rams (1-0). Texas Wesleyan was the first school to ever play ACU's varsity program on Aug. 24, 2007, but the two sides haven't faced each other since the Wildcats' 1-0 victory.

Last season marked the first meeting between the Wildcats and Pioneers with ACU prevailing, 2-0, in Plainview, Texas. Goalkeepers Sydney Newton and Kelsey Dombrowski combined for an easy shutout in which their defense allowed just four shots, while goals were tallied by Jacey Ferrara and Natalie Throneberry.

ACU has been shutout twice to start to season with matching 1-0 losses against longtime DI institutions Tulsa and UTEP. The Wildcats were held to three shots and three corners in the season-opener at Tulsa, but matched the Miners' offensive effort with 13 shots taken last Sunday.

Playing in brutally hot conditions at Shotwell Stadium, the Wildcats appeared anxious to end the match early in overtime with three shots taken in the first two minutes. Unfortunately, two of their attempts were blocked and another was saved by UTEP goalkeeper Sarah Dilling. Then, with less than three minutes remaining in the first overtime session, striker Mackenzie German finally beat Newton with a diagonal taken from about 10-yards away.

Of Newton's eight saves Sunday, half were earned against German. The sophomore netminder also had eight against the Golden Hurricane to establish a new career high.

ACU has been outshot through its two matches, 28-16. Sophomores Throneberry and Maria Gomez and junior Lindsey Jones lead the Wildcats with three shots each. Jones recorded three shots against UTEP but all were stopped by Dilling.

Admission to Friday's match at Hardin-Simmons is free. The pitch is located next to the track and softball field at the Grape Street Complex on the west side of campus.
