Capital One Academic All-District Soccer TeamsABILENE - Abilene Christian sophomore defender
Kelsie Roberts Thursday was named to the Capital One Academic All-District 7 Second Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
A native of Lucas, Texas, and 2013 graduate of Lovejoy High School, Roberts is a biochemistry major at ACU with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average.
On the pitch, Roberts has led the Wildcats to consecutive winning seasons within the Southland Conference as her defensive line has helped pitch 10 shutouts while allowing an average of 0.95 goals and 13.0 shots per match. She earned Southland Conference honorable mention at the conclusion of her freshman season, and again has been nominated for all-conference consideration in 2014.
Roberts work in the classroom, meanwhile, has earned her a spot of the Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll as well as the ACU's Dean's List for two semesters. She additionally is the recipient of the R. L. Money Chancellor's Award and an academic scholarship from Raytheon.
Roberts is the eighth different Wildcat since 2011 to make an Academic All-District team. Six players were honored with this distinction in 2011, while in 2012 the honor went to Julie Coppedge and Arielle Moncure.
Defender
Brie Buschman made history in 2013 by becoming the program's first Academic All-America First Team selection. Buschman was a third-team Academic All-America honoree as a sophomore in 2011. Coppedge received third-team honors in 2012 in addition to a NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship.
Roberts was joined on the Academic All-District Second Team by Southland Conference colleagues Morgan Dean of Houston Baptist and Megan Dunnigan of Stephen F. Austin.
SFA goalkeeper Morgan Glick was voted as the Academic-All District First Team goalkeeper, while Lamar's Megan Campbell was one of four defenders tabbed to the first team. They, along with the first-team selections from seven additional CoSIDA districts, will now have their names forwarded onto the Academic All-America ballot.
The Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-America team will be announced Nov. 25.
CoSIDA District 7 includes all NCAA Division I schools from Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
