Wildcats Earn Split With 15-11 Win

ABILENE – ACU freshman outfielder Tyler Eager collected four hits and drove in four runs Sunday afternoon as the Wildcats earned a split of the season-opening four-game series with a 15-11 win over Arkansas Tech at Crutcher Scott Field.

The win evened the Wildcats' record at 2-2, while the Wonder Boys leave Abilene with the same record.  The Wildcats will return to action Friday and Saturday with a four-game set against Colorado Christian.

Eager's 4-for-6 performance on Sunday left him at 9 for 18 with nine runs scored and seven RBI on the season.

The Wildcats pushed out to a 7-1 lead after two innings with a six-run second inning.  ACU put up six runs on five hits, all with two outs.  Luke Mejia and Eager had the only RBI in the inning.

ACU added another run in the third inning before Tech answered with seven runs in the top of the fourth.

But the Wildcats immediately responded with three runs in the bottom of the fourth to regain an 11-8 lead.  Mike Keegan had an RBI sacrifice fly to give the Wildcats a 9-8 lead, and Reed Watson gave his team a three-run lead with a two-run single through the left side.

In the sixth, Mejia had an RBI groundout and Eager finished the scoring in the frame with an RBI single up the middle.  ACU put the game away in the bottom of the eighth with two more runs on an RBI single by Watson and an Eager RBI double to center.
