#24 ACU Blanks Bronchos 3-0

Box Score

EDMOND, Okla. Andrea Carpenter and Krysta Grimm each scored and Ashley Holton provided two assists during No. 24 Abilene Christian's 3-0 victory over former Lone Star Conference foe Central Oklahoma Wednesday afternoon at Tom Thompson Field.

The Wildcats are now off to their second consecutive 3-0 start in as many years while the independent Bronchos dropped to 0-3.

Grimm notched her third goal of the week in the 33rd minute to put the Wildcats up 1-0, but it was Andrea Carpenter's score with six seconds before halftime that truly left the Bronchos broken as they were outshot 11-0 coming out of the break.

Holton, who was making her season debut after missing last weekend's matches with an injury, assisted Carpenter's score from inside the 18. She again helped in the 67th minute on Whitley Lindholm's first career goal taken from 15 feet back.

Grimm and Carpenter currently share the team lead in goals with three, while Holton is tied with Lyndsey Womack for the most assists with two.

ACU's pair of first-half goals improved goalkeeper Elliott London's season record to 2-0. She made one save over the first 45 minutes before turning the net over to Arielle Moncure and Sara Chalmers in the second half.

Central Oklahoma goalkeepers Samantha Rusk and Brandi Barley combined for eight saves as the Wildcats finished with a 17-4 shot advantage, including 11-1 in shots on goal. Both clubs earned four corner kicks and were charged with four fouls.

Abilene Christian returns to action Sunday at 11 a.m. with a neutral site game at Incarnate Word vs. Truman State.

Carpenter Named Lone Start Conference Offensive Player of the Week
Carpenter contributed five points during ACU's 2-0 season-opening weekend as the Wildcats downed Dallas Baptist 2-1 in overtime and A&M-International 4-0.

Carpenter scored the game-winning goal
against the Patriots in the 94th minute, which was the 22nd of her career as the sophomore kept herself atop the Wildcat records book in both points and goals scored. She added three points against the Dustdevils, first assisting the second of two Krysta Grimm goals before making it a 3-0 game with her strike in the 67th minute. She played 167 minutes last weekend, firing only eight shots, but put two in (.250) and five on goal (.625).
