GREENWICH, Conn. – Second-Round foursomes matches were suspended at the Palmer Cup at The Stanwich Club where ACU's Alex Carpenter is playing for Team USA. Play resumed at 7:30 a.m. Friday with third-round singles matches after the conclusion of the second round. The United States leads 4.5 – 3.5 entering Day 2 singles play.

Play resumed at 7:30 a.m. Friday with third-round singles matches after the conclusion of the second round. The United States leads 4.5 – 3.5 entering Day 2 singles play.
Carpenter and teammate Patrick Cantlay of UCLA dropped their morning match on Thursday, 4 & 2 as they switched partners to play foursomes in the afternoon. Carpenter was teamed with Blayne Barber of Auburn as the pair also dropped their afternoon match 5 & 3 to Sebastian Cappelen of Arkansas and Ignacio Elvira a senior from Texas A&M.
Currently Carpenter is faring better in singles play 2 up through six holes in his match with Denmark native, Jeff Karisson from Kennesaw State. Carpenter is one of five players leading their Saturday singles match with Europe ahead in two matches and one at all square.
The Palmer Cup will conclude with Day 3 singles play on Saturday when pairings will be made after today's third round action.
