ABILENE, Texas — Abilene Christian University Athletics has announced a leadership change in its men's golf program following 12 seasons under head coach Tom Shaw.
"We are incredibly grateful to Coach Shaw for his 12 years of dedication and service to ACU," said Vice President for Athletics Zack Lassiter. "He has made a lasting impact on our student-athletes and our program, both on and off the course. We appreciate the leadership, integrity, and commitment he has shown throughout his time here and wish him the very best moving forward."
Shaw's tenure at ACU began in 2014 as he helped guide the program through the Division I transitionary period. On the course, Shaw coached four tournament medalists with 14 all-conference recipients. During their debut season of the Western Athletic Conference, the Wildcats won the 2022 WAC Championship and Shaw was named the conference's coach of the year.
ACU golf moved into the Byron Nelson Clubhouse in 2020. The facility also includes The Jim short-game practice course, and the Blanks Family Driving Range.
In the classroom, Shaw's golfers have earned Academic All-WAC distinction on 12 occasions with four Southland All-Academic accolades. Sixty-nine golfers have received a spot on the Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll, while 22 have been named GCAA All-America Scholars.
At this year's conference championship, senior Grégoire Hoyeau tied for sixth place while Abilene Christian men's golf placed third on Wednesday.
A national search for the next head coach will begin immediately.
