ACU to host regional tennis

ABILENE – The ACU men's and women's tennis teams will host NCAA Division II South Central Region tournaments next week at the Eager Tennis Center on the ACU campus.
The ACU men will host Cameron in a two-team regional, while the ACU women will host Southwest Baptist and Tarleton State in a three-team regional.

On the men's side, the Aggies of Cameron (17-8 overall and No. 3 in the region) will take on the Wildcats (18-9 overall and No. 2 in the region) at 10:30 a.m. Monday for the right to advance to the NCAA Division II national tournament, which will be played May 11-14 at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
The other two South Central Region teams will play Monday in Austin as top-seeded St. Edward's (12-8) hosts No. 4 Northwest Missouri State (19-4) for the right to go to the national tournament.
ACU has two wins over Cameron this season, a 5-4 win on April 13 in Abilene and a 5-1 win over the Aggies last Saturday (April 23) in the Lone Star Conference Tournament championship match in Oklahoma City.
On the women's side, ACU will be playing for its 15th straight trip to the NCAA Division II national tournament. If the Wildcats play the TexAnns, it will be rematch of a Feb. 11 match that ACU won 7-2.
Southwest Baptist (10-9 and No. 5 in the region) will take on Tarleton State (7-9 and No. 4 in the region) at 2 p.m. Sunday for the right to play ACU (20-7 and No. 1 in the region) in Monday's 11:30 a.m. championship match.
The other South Central Region championship match pits No. 3 Midwestern State (17-8) at No. 2 Cameron (13-7) Monday morning in Lawton, Okla.
