Cats Take Aim at Second Title

ABILENE – The defending Lone Star Conference Champions are preparing to take aim at Randolph Oaks Golf Course on Randolph AFB and looking to become the first repeat champions since Northeastern State won in 2006 and 2007.
Individual Co-Champions, Cyril Bouniol and Alex Carpenter will both take aim at the 7,172 yard course on located outside of San Antonio on the Randolph Air Force Base in Universal City, Texas. After shattering the school record for wins in a career, Carpenter has earned three wins this spring to bring his total to 11 wins in his short collegiate career.
“The guys have been playing great coming into the championships,” head coach Mike Campbell said. “We won a couple weeks ago at the Dallas Baptist tournament and finished second at UCO last weekend. I feel like the guys are peaking at the right time and it gives us a good shot heading into this weekend.”
Two more underclassmen have also been in the mix including sophomore Adam Carpenter and freshman Trey Sullivan. Carpenter has competed in three events this spring with a best 25th place finish while Sullivan has been in four tournaments and placed tied for 20th at the DBU Patriot Invitational.
ACU will be in the 11th pairing on Monday morning starting with the 9:20 a.m. tee time. The threesomes ACU golfers will be paired with include Southwestern Oklahoma and Northeastern State with the final group teeing off at 9:52 a.m. The final group of the day will take off from the No. 1 tee at 10:32 a.m. including East Central, Midwestern State and Central Oklahoma.
