LAMAR – The 13th-ranked ACU Wildcats wrapped up a quick weekend trip to south Texas on Sunday with a 5-2 loss to NCAA Division I foe Lamar.
The Wildcats are 2-2 on the season after losing late Saturday to Rice and then following that with a loss to Lamar on Sunday. The Wildcats will be off until Feb. 25 when they take on Metro State (Colo.) and the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The Cardinals won the doubles point Sunday with wins at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles, including a 9-7 win at No. 2 when Denis Ermilov and Dusan Savkovic edged ACU's tandem of
Bryan Joiner and
Nick Plum.
The Wildcats won two singles matches, winning at No. 1 where
Hans Hach knocked off Robert Lee, 6-3, 6-2, and at No. 3 where
Jake Hendrie beat Marton Horvath, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. The Wildcats lost two other matches in three sets.
