FIRST PITCH
The Wildcats host Lone Star Conference rival Cameron for a weekend series at Crutcher Scott Field. The Wildcats and Aggies are essentially tied for first place in the LSC as ACU is 21-7 and Cameron is 21-9 in conference play. The Wildcats are coming off a road series win against Northeastern State as they took 3-of-4 from the Riverhawks. ACU has also moved into the top 10 of all three NCAA DII College Baseball polls as they rank No. 6 in the Coaches poll while sitting at No. 8 in the NCBWA poll and No. 9 in the Ping! Baseball Top 30. After picking up their 30th win of the season ACU took a Sunday Sweep to stand at 32-8 on the season an 21-7 in the LSC. The Wildcats only non-conference loss came at the hands of No. 19 Delta State. Over the weekend ACU continued to light up the base paths and the score board as they have now outscored their opponents 371-161 on the season. ACU continued the trend against the Riverhawks outscoring the home team 28-16 in rainy Oklahoma. On Tuesday ACU picked up two more wins over NAIA power Texas Wesleyan 12-3 in game one. Closer Brad Rutherford picked up his second win in the mid-week start shutting out the Rams 6-0
SERIES HISTORY
ACU leads the series 36-25. Last year the Wildcats and Aggies split a four game series with ACU taking games one and four. Both teams also entered the series ranked in the top 25 as ACU was again in the top ten at No. 9 while Cameron was No. 21. Also entering the series the Wildcats have won 9 of the last 12 against the Aggies including a four game sweep in 2008.
UP NEXT
ACU will hit the road for a five game road swing at St. Edward's in a mid-week contest before facing LSC foe Southwestern Oklahoma on Friday and Saturday. The Wildcats will then finish their next five games at home to end the season before hosting the LSC Post-season Tournament.
Streaks
The Wildcats have been on a tear since moving first basemen Bret Bochsler into the cleanup position at Delta State. Since coming off the Wildcats only back-to-back losses of the season against Southeastern Oklahoma and Delta State, ACU has won 16 of their last 18 games with an 11-game winning streak thrown in including a four-game sweep of Angelo State. ACU has won their last four-games entering the Cameron series.
Sweeps
On Tuesday ACU took two games from Texas Wesleyan to take the season series from the Rams. It marks the fourth sweep of a series this year for the Wildcats as they took four games from Harding to open the season. The other two sweeps include LSC foes Angelo State on March 26-27 and East Central on March 3-6.
