Texans Sweep Wildcats

ABILENE – Aaron Oliver blasted a lead-off homerun in game one for the second consecutive game, but it wasn't enough as ACU dropped both games Friday evening at Crutcher Scott Field. It was the fourth time this year the Wildcats have lost back-to-back games.

The Wildcats fell behind 3-1 when Chris Casazzar blasted a homerun to center off starter Cameron Aspaas. Aspaas was charged with all four Texan runs and would be forced to leave the game when an errant throw hit him in the head on a stolen base attempt.

ACU would cut the lead to one on a Clint Bowker single scoring Will Calhoun and Brett Bochsler. Calhoun led off the inning with a single to right field and moved to third on Bochsler's double. The Wildcats stranded only their second base runner in the ninth as Tarleton's Nathan Lewis picked up the save.

Oliver's homerun was his seventh of the season and the only other RBI in game one for ACU as they lost, 3-4.

In the night cap ACU quickly fell behind 5-0 as Kevin Justice was chased after just an inning of work. The Wildcats used six different pitchers in game two as the Texans' 13 runs were the third highest allowed by ACU this season.

Tarleton State added four more runs in the in the fourth inning as they got two outstanding pitching performances on the evening. The Texans were playing for their post-season hopes needing at least two wins to get into next week's tournament while ACU has clinched a top spot.

Willie Uechi went 4-for-4 in game two after being held hitless in game one. Uechi also recorded two doubles with three RBIs with the second coming in the three-run eighth inning.

Oliver was also 3-for-5 in the nightcap as he was just a homerun shy of hitting for the cycle. Oliver tripled to lead off in the third inning and followed that with a lead-off single in the fifth. He would then double in the eighth and score on Uechi's double ending his night.

The Wildcats and Texans will tangle to end the regular season on Saturday. The doubleheader beings at 3:05 p.m. at Crutcher Scott while the ACU Athletic Department will provide live stats and live broadcast for the regular season finale.
