DALLAS -- The ACU Wildcats continued their strong season Tuesday as they finished a strong fourth at the Dallas Baptist Patriot Invitational.
The Wildcats finished fourth behind tournament champion Midwestern State, runner-up Oklahoma City and third-place St. Mary's. The Mustangs and OCU finished tied after three rounds at 38-over-par 878, but MSU won the title in a playoff.
St. Mary's was third at 42-over-par 882, while the Wildcats were fourth at 43-over-par 883. Dallas Baptist was fifth at 44-over-par 884.
"The conditions were pretty tough (Tuesday)," ACU head coach Mike Campbell said. "But I was proud of the guys and the way they battled. We were right in it against a tough field, and we were able to beat a lot of teams in our region."
Freshman Alex Carpenter saw his personal winning streak snapped at two, but he had another strong tournament, finishing third at 4-over-par 214 over the par-70 layout at The Golf Club of Dallas.
Cyril Bouniol finished tied for seventh at 6-over-par 216, while Adam Carpenter was tied for 53rd at 17-over-par 227. Tyler Sheppard was tied for 53rd as well, while Kyle Dickerson finished tied for 80th at 24-over-par 234.
ACU will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday at the UCO / Kickingbird Classic in Edmond, Okla.
