ABILENE – The defending Lone Star Conference Champion ACU baseball squad and head coach Britt Bonneau announced their schedule for 2011 highlighted by 29 home dates and again the host of the Lone Star Conference Baseball Tournament in May.
ACU will open the 2011 season on the road at St. Mary's before opening LSC play at home to the new member Incarnate Word. Lone Star Conference series will have a new look this year as they will only be three game series and include only one seven inning game and two nine inning games.
A highlight of the 2011 schedule come early when the Wildcats host national power and rival Delta State for a mid-week series on February 8th and 9th.
The month of March fans can see the Wildcats at home for five different series including a weekend series with rival Angelo State and a four game mid-week series with Texas A&M-International. The Wildcats final home series will come in April as they host Cameron before rounding out the regular season on the road at Southwestern Oklahoma.
The Lone Star Conference Post-Season baseball tournament will again make its return to Abilene as the two-time defending champion Wildcats will look to hold on to their title. The Championships run May 7-10 at Crutcher Scott Field as the winner earns the LSC automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The College World Series will again be held in Cary, North Carolina at the USA Baseball Complex. The tournament will begin May 28 with the finals on June 4. ACU has made one trip to the College World Series coming in 2003.
Last year the Wildcats fell in the South Central Regional final to Central Missouri coming one game short of their second College World Series berth.
