ACU Host Rival WT and ENMU

ABILENE – ACU soccer team returns to the Wildcat Soccer Pitch for a pair of Lone Star Conference games as a bookend to homecoming weekend festivities. The Wildcats host West Texas A&M on Friday in a 4 p.m. kickoff and Eastern New Mexico on Sunday at noon.

LAST TIME OUT

ACU took a pair of games over the weekend in Oklahoma with wins over East Central and Northeastern Oklahoma. Junior Ashley Holton added four goals over the two games including a hat trick against ECU helping the Wildcats move to 7-2 on the season.

UP NEXT

The Wildcats return to the Wildcat Soccer Pitch for the next two weekends in LSC action. ACU starts homecoming week with rival West Texas A&M on Friday and a matchup with Southwestern Oklahoma on Sunday.

HAT TRICK
Junior Ashley Holton picked up her first career hat trick on Friday in a 4-2 win over East Central. Holton's hat trick is the third in Wildcat history as current teammate Lyndsey Womack scored one of the first in the Wildcats first varsity season.

Freshmen Andrea Carpenter has made her presence known around the LSC. She iscurrently atop the leaders in goals with 9 and points per game with 2.22 and 20points total. Also behind Carpenter is Ashley Holton, who is second in the conference with 8 goals.

RECORD WATCH
Freshmen Andrea Carpenter is making her assault on the Lone Star Conference andthe ACU record books. Carpenter is currently one goal shy of tying the single seasonrecord for goals in season with 10 currently held by Lyndsey Womack. She is also onpace to shatter the single season mark for points in a season by a Wildcat sitting at20, just four behind Womack's total. She is also three goals away from second placeall-time, Jordan Reese's career total of 12.

QUICK STARTS
After missing the 2009 season Ashley Holton has wasted little and had little troublefinding the net. In her time in her first ACU start Holton recorded two goals in aseason opening win at Colorado-Colorado Springs. After her hat trick on Friday Holton now has 8 goals on the season. Team leader freshmen Andrea Carpenter hasfollowed suit with Holton recording an assist on the season's first goal as well asscoring a goal of her own in each of the Wildcats first 8 games. Carpenter was heldscoreless for the first time on Sunday vs. Northeastern State.

FILLINNG THE NETS
ACU has already totaled more points this season through nine games with 24 thanall of last season. The Wildcats have already outscored their opponents 24-9 andhave heavily out shot them by a 150-84 margin.

STIFF COMPETITION
In the first non-conference portion of the Wildcats schedule they have already facedtwo nationally ranked teams, Florida Southern and Midwestern State. For ACU theschedule doesn't get any easier. The LSC slate for the Wildcats includes West TexasA&M who reached the National Quarterfinals and Central Oklahoma who was eliminatedin the first round of the national tournament.
